THIS IS AN AUCTION FOR THREE NICE BLUE SELTZER BOTTLES FROM PACKAGE BEER AND SODA DISTRIBUTORS FROM THE IMMEDIATE POST WAR ERA WHEN AMERICAS LOVE AFFAIR WITH THE AUTO MADE THESE CASH AND CARRY DISTRIBUTORS POPULAR.MOST OF THE DISTRIBUTORS WERE FREE STANDING STRUCTURES LOADED WITH BEER SODA AND YES THESE WONDERFUL SELTZER BOTTLES.
BOTTLE ONE IS FROM GARDEN CITY BEVERAGE CO. IT IS A RICH SKY BLUE BOTTLE AND LOOKS MUCH NICER THAN THE PICTURE WOULD SUGGEST.
I WAS IN GARDEN CITY YESTERDAY AND IT'S A COLORFUL PLACE AND UNLIKE MOST COMMUNITIES OF THE PAST, IT WAS ACTUALLY PLANNED. A.T. STEWART WHO WAS THE FIRST TO CREATE A DEPARTMENT STORE CONCEPT STORE IN LOWER MANHATTAN, HAD A DREAM TO FOUND A CITY OF GARDENS. ONE DAY BACK IN THE LATE 1800'S HE TOOK A RIDE THROUGH THE HEMPSTEAD PLAINS OF LONG ISLAND ON THE NEWLY CREATED RAILROAD, AND WHEN HE GOT TO THE LOCATION OF PRESENT GARDEN CITY, HE HAD AN EPTIHANY AND SAID HERE'S  WHERE I WANT TO CREATE A CITY OF GARDENS, AND GARDEN CITY WAS BORN IN NASSAU COUNTY WHEN NASSAU COUNTY AND QUEENS COUNTY WERE ONE ENTITY BEFORE THEY SEPARATED WITH THE FORMATION OF GREATER NEW YORK CITY IN 1898.
BOTTLE TWO IS FROM A BIT FURTHER EAST IN SUFFOLK COUNTY WHICH IS STILL ON LONG ISLAND. IT IS FROM BABYLON BEER DIST, CORP..A. PICCIONE IS LISTED AS THE PROPRIETOR. HOME DELIVERY IS ALSO LISTED,
BOTTLE THREE IS FROM QUEENS WHICH IS STILL ON LONG ISLAND. IT IS FROM JAMAICA SELTZER WORKS OF 172-16 JAMAICA AVE WITH A PHONE NUMBER LISTED AS JAMAICA 6-3333..IN 1979 JAY WHO WAS THE OWNER SOLD HIS DISTRIBORSHIP FOR ,000 WHICH INCLUDED THE COVETED WHOLESALE BEER LICENSE TO SOME "WELL CONNECTED MEN", HE WOULD DISCOVER WHO WANTED TO HAVE SOME PLACE TO "CLEAN UP THEIR MONEY"
IN THE 1970'S.IT WAS THE DAYS WHEN MOVIES LIKE "THE GODFATHER" TRULY EPITOMIZED A PART OF THE BUSINESS CYCLE THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AN INTEGRAL PART OF NYC.I DELIVERD TO MANY OF THEM AND WE RESPECTED EACH OTHER.MY FATHER DELIVERED TO THEM AND PROBABLY MY GRANDFATHER DELIVERED TO THEM AS WELL ALL WITH NO PROBLEMS.IN FACT QUITE A FEW BECAME MY FRIENDS AND OFFERED ME A JOB WITH THEM, BUT MY WIFE NIXED THE IDEA.THEY ALSO OFFERED TO SEND SOME "BOYS" OVER TO "STRAIGHTEN THEM OUT" WHEN SOME PEOPLE OWED ME MONEY, BUT I DECLINED THE OFFER..THEY NEVER PAID JAY AND MADE HIM LITERALLY"AN OFFER HE COULDN'T REFUSE" MINUS THE HORSES HEAD.I WOULD'VE GOTTEN PAID.
I PAID JAY FOR THE WORK HE GAVE ME IN QUEENS WHICH WAS MAINLY SODA CUSTOMERS.
THE SODA COMPANIES ALL WENT OUT OF BUSINESS SO NO SODA CUSTOMERS ARE STILL AROUND,  BUT A FEW OF THE SELTZER CUSTOMERS REMAIN AFTER 40 PLUS YEARS AND THEY'VE SEEN ME GET MARRIED AND HAVE CHILDREN.
I USED TO GO TO THAT AREA POPULATED WITH NOTHING BUT  ETHNIC MINORITIES GENERALLY BUYING  SODA. I WAS LITERALY THE ONLY WHITE MAN AROUND.
I DELIVERED TO A BUNCH OF BUDDING RAP STARS. ONE DAY A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ARE OUT LISTENING TO THEIR BOOM BOXES. MY HELPER FRANKIE WAS GROOVING TO THE MUSIC THAT I STILL CAN'T STAND. I WANTED TO SAY CUT THE RAP CR...P, BUT WHEN YOU'RE IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO, SO I KEPT UNUSUALLY QUIET FOR ME. THEN FRANKIE SAID THAT'S BEAUTIFUL RUN. IT WAS RUN DMC WHO HAD BOUGHT AND SO DID HIS MOTHER. I KNEW A BUNCH OF THEM WITH THEIR RECORDING STUDIOS IN THEIR BASEMENT AND PEOPLE LIKE 50 CENT-NO COMMENT.
I EVEN DELIVERED TO THE DOPE DEALERS AND THE ASSORTED THUGS..I WAS ONE OF THE BOYS. I REMEMBER ONE MAJOR DEALER ONCE SAID TO ME "WE LOVE TO STICK UP HONKIES LIKE YOU. BUT YOU'RE DOWN WITH US. AIN'T NO ONE GOING TO FU..K WITH YOU WHILE WE'RE HERE."  THERE WERE LOTS OF PEOPLE BEING KILLED IN THAT AREA THEY CALLED BRICKTOWN. IN THE MORNING SUN ALL I'D SEE WAS POLICE TAPE AND SOMETIMES CONES WHERE THE BULLET CASINGS HAD BEEN. THERE WAS A BLACK GUY WHO LOOKED LIKE MY HELPER FRANKIE WHO SOMETIMES JUMPED IN OUR STEP VAN TO TALK SPORTS WITH FRANKIE. I HAD JARS OF CANDY FROM THE SODA SHOP AND PEOPLE HELPED THEMSELVES. FRANKIE HAD A COPY OF NEWSDAY WITH A PHOTO OF A DEAD BODY WITH A SHEET AROUND HIM AND I COMMENTED THAT'S THIS SPOT. THE ARTICLE READ THAT THE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE HIT MAN WHO KILLED 15 PEOPLE FOR THE GANG. I LOOKED AT THE PICTURE AND SAID IT'S ROUGH OUT HERE..FRANKIE'S FRIEND NODDED A SIGN OF ACCEPTANCE AND ATE SOME CANDY LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE POLICE CAUGHT THE HITMAN WHO KILLED 15 PEOPLE AND WE SAW HIS PICTURE ON THE COVER OF NEWSDAY, AND I ASKED FRANKIE IF THAT WAS YOUR MAN AND HE SHOOK HIS HEAD YES. AND I SAID I GUESS HE WON'T BE RIDING IN THE VAN FOR A WHILE.IT WAS A CRAZY WORLD THEN.
ONE DAY BEFORE MY BOYS CAME, ALONG THERE WAS SOME TROUBLE IN LA OVER SOMEONE NAMED RODNEY KING.THEY PULLED A WHITE TRUCK DRIVER OUT FOR NO REASON AND BEAT HIM UP. THAT DAY I HAD NO HELPER, BUT I WENT TO  WORK ANYWAY.
MY WIFE WAS SO SCARED FOR ME TO GO TO THE ROUTE THAT DAY THAT SHE TOOK ONE OF MY PISTOLS, AND UNBEKNOWNST TO ME FOLLOWED ME THE WHOLE DAY AFRAID THEY'D DO IT TO ME..AND I TELL PEOPLE TILL THIS DAY THAT YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU WANT  ----BUT EVERY MAN SHOULD HAVE A WOMEN WHO'D STAND BEHIND HIM LIKE THAT.
AND IT'S A REAL GOOD THING THAT I WASN'T MESSING AROUND WITH ANYONE BECAUSE MY WIFE HAS A LATIN TEMPERAMENT AND  I MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF WITH A CROWD PULLING ME OUT OF MY VAN, THAN THE WRATH OF A WOMEN ON THE WAR PATH.
I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF ONE OF THEIR PERIOD 1940'S RISQUE MATCH BOOK COVERS FROM ANOTHER ERA WHEN OTHER ETHNIC PEOPLE LIVED THERE..
OUR BOTTLES ARE MEANT FOR DISPLAY.
ALL AUCTIONS BELONG TO MY WIFE SELTZERLADY.
I STILL DELIVER THE SELTZER AND WILL NEVER SELL ANY OF MY BOTTLES IF YOU SEE ME AROUND, BUT WILL TALK TO ALMOST ANYONE ABOUT THEM.
    <div style="text-align:center"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/sw/java.gif" border="0"><br><table align="center"><tr><td><a style="text-decoration:none" href="http://emporium.auctiva.com/mrbubbles105" target="_blank"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/sw/images.gif" border="0"></a></td><td height="27px" valign="middle" align="center"><font face="arial" size="2"><b><a href="http://emporium.auctiva.com/mrbubbles105" target="_blank">mrbubbles105</a> Store</b></font></td></tr></table></div>
THESE ARE IN FABULOUS CONDITION CONSIDERING THEIR AGE AND THAT THEY'VE BEEN USED FOR GENERATIONS. WHEN YOU DELIVER THESE BOTTLES IN WOODEN CASES OF TEN WEIGHING 70 POUNDS THEY DO GET HANDLED ROUGHLY.
AND THEY DO SHOW THEIR SIGNS OF AGE BUT THAT ONLY ADDS TO THEIR AUTHENTICITY AND DESIRABILITY..
THESE BOTTLES HAVE BEEN CLEANED THOUGHLY BY MY WIFE AND THESE ARE HER AUCTIONS.
THEY ARE MEANT FOR DISPLAY AND DECORATION..
THESE ARE VINTAGE COLLECTIBLES AND WERE IN USE TILL RECENTLY..THEY ALL HAVE A LONG AND MAGNIFIENT HISTORY OF PLEASING MANY FOR GENERATIONS. THEY ARE TIME-WORN WHICH ONLY ADDS TO THEIR AUTHENTICITY AND SENSE OF CONTINUITY WITH THE PAST FOR THOSE WHO LOOK FOR THINGS THAT ARE MEANT TO BE USED FOR A MOMENT THEN DISPOSED OF JUST AS QUICKLY.
    THANK YOU.
