Description
The South Africa 50 Rand banknote was released by the South African Reserve Bank in 1990. The notes obverse features a portrait of navigator Jan van Riebeeck and on the center is a lion. The reverse of the note depicts a giraffe, a springbok, a gnu, a zebra, and a deer drinking from a watering hole. A mountain range and coconut palm trees are also visible. The banknote is 148 x 82 mm in size and carries a solid security thread and a watermark that shows Jan van Riebeeck. Additionally, the note was printed by the South African Bank Note Company and has the signature of the bank president/governor, Christian Lodewyk Stals. This particular South Africa 50 Rand banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated.
