    Description

1967 Oldsmobile magnetic pulse distributor #1111188 for UHV "Ultra High Voltage" capacitive discharge ignition. The books show this distributor was used for A-body (F-85, Cutlass, 4-4-2), 400 engine w/ 4bbl carb, including W-30 option. It was also installed on full-size cars with 425 engine w/ 2bbl carb and high compression. Designed to be paired with the Delco-Remy UHV CD ignition amplifier, this distributor is also compatible with Delco Remy Transistorized Ignition (TI) amplifier boxes as well.
Since Oldsmobile and Pontiac distributors both turn counter-clockwise (opposite of Chevy), the internal parts of this distributor (and cap) can also be used to convert a Pontiac distributor to support CD Ignition which was an option in 1967. I originally purchased it for that purpose, but when I saw the NOS condition, I knew it would be more useful to an Oldsmobile restoration and I decided not to part it out.
This appears to be NOS. I fully disassembled for inspection, cleaning, and lubrication, and there are no wear marks. The pictures will show the main shaft to be wear-free as well as other wear points including the drive gear. There was age related discoloration and corrosion which I cleaned off as best I could without harming it's originality. I read the green paint on the body is a factory marking, so I left that alone.
The coil impedance measures correctly and I tested the distributor's function connected to an Olds UHV amplifier.
The date code is 9B12 which is February 12, 1969, which means that this unit is a service part, since 1111188 was a 1967 only number. That would also explain the NOS condition, as it was likely purchased as a spare or upgrade, and never used.
The red UHV/CD Ignition cap is also NOS Delco-Remy.
An item like this does not come around often.....
